Catstronauts: Mission Moon by Drew Brockington. Little, Brown, $16.99; ISBN 978-0-316-30747-5. First in the CatStronauts series, newcomer Brockington’s graphic novel for the chapter book crowd follows a group of cats on a lunar mission.

The Giant Jumperee by Julia Donaldson, illus. by Helen Oxenbury. Dial, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-7352-2797-2. In this picture book, an unseen ghoul or monster is occupying Rabbit’s burrow and announces itself as the Giant Jumperee. The book earned a starred review from PW.

I Am Fartacus by Mark Maciejewski. Aladdin, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-6420-8. In this humorous middle grade story, sixth grader Chub enlists new friends to help stop a former best friend from becoming school president and making his life miserable.

Vincent and Theo: The Van Gogh Brothers by Deborah Heiligman. Holt, $19.99; ISBN 978-0-8050-9339-1. As teenagers, the Van Gogh brothers, Vincent and Theo, pledged to “be companions in the search for meaning in life and meaning in art.” In this exploration of their turbulent lives, Heiligman (Charles and Emma) focuses on their complex relationship and anchoring mutual bond. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Fair Ball by Derek Jeter. S&S/Wiseman, $16.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-9148-8. This fourth semi-autobiographical middle grade novel from the star baseball player follows Derek as he struggles to compete while staying focused on schoolwork.

Rulers of the Playground by Joseph Kuefler. HarperCollins/Balzer + Bray, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-06-242432-7. The politics of the playground are investigated in this picture book about sharing and friendship.

Bang by Barry Lyga. Little, Brown, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-316-31550-0. Ten years after accidentally shooting and killing his baby sister, 14-year-old Sebastian is haunted by the loss to the point of considering suicide. When he meets Aneesa, a new neighbor whose brown skin and headscarf also make her an outcast, their friendship challenges his views of his self worth. The book earned a starred review from PW.

Everland by Wendy Spinale. Scholastic Press, $17.99; ISBN 978-0-545-95318-4. The second volume in the middle grade Umberland series continues the saga of four children in a magic-and-history-infused world.

The Adjustment (Program) by Suzanne Young (Simon Pulse, $17.99; ISBN 978-1-4814-7132-9. The fifth novel in the Program series follows one teen who has escaped the memory-wiping Program as she fights to save her boyfriend from the effects of its treatment.
